In line with its objectives, and within the framework of its corporate policy, Gorona del Viento El Hierro has achieved certification of its Quality Control, Environmental, and Health and Safety at Work systems across the full range of its operations.
Today, on Thursday 9 May 2019, the head of AENOR [Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification] presented the certificates to Belén Allende, the chair of Gorona del Viento. These certifications represent a strengthening of the company’s commitment to quality in its management—and in its protection of the environment and of the safety of its workers.
These certificates, awarded by the Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification (AENOR), attest that Gorona del Viento has implemented systems that comply with standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001, all benchmarked against international standards.
ISO 9001 certifies that the company has implemented a quality control system that enshrines efficiency as well as continuous improvement in all its operations. The achievement of this award will make the company more competitive and more productive, while at the same time raising the standard of quality in management.
The ISO 14001 certificate accredits the effectiveness of the environmental management system and the correct monitoring of the environmental impact of the company’s activity—by preventing, reducing or eliminating risks.
Lastly, Gorona del Viento has achieved OHSAS 18001 certification. This standard specifies the criteria which a health and safety at work system must meet in order to enable companies to optimise the performance of their operations, such as effectively controlling the risks associated with their activities and adopting the measures necessary for the prevention of accidents.
