Spain: Gorona del Viento received the award in the category of ‘Administrations and public entities’ in the XIII Sustainability and Environment Awards. As the organisation indicated during the award ceremony, “the company deserves this award for its project ‘The Wind-Pumped Hydro Power Station of El Hierro’, a world pioneer. For the first time, an isolated territory will be able to supply itself with electricity from renewable sources, applying a complex and innovative system capable of generating a constant, controlled and clean energy supply”.

Austria: The El Hierro´s Wind-Pumped Hydro Power Station is the Spanish project chosen in the national category of the Energy Globe, one of the world’s most prestigious environmental awards founded more than a decade ago by the Austrian Wolfgang Neumann.

Spain: The island of El Hierro, represented by the vice-president of the Cabildo Juan Pedro Sánchez, has been distinguished for the extensive use of its natural resources to obtain clean and renewable energies and for aspiring to energy self-sufficiency through the Gorona del Viento Wind-Pumped Hydro Power Station, in operation since mid-2015 and the main axis of the Sustainable Development Plan of this small island in the Canary Islands.

Spain: Gorona del Viento, the company that owns the El Hierro´s Wind-Pumped Hydro Power Station, received the Silver Candela from Asinelte, the Business Association of Electrical and Telecommunications Installers of the province of Tenerife, in recognition of its energy self-sufficiency project, for its innovative and sustainable impact.

Spain: The Ministry of the Environment has awarded the Gorona del Viento a prize for promoting renewable energies in El Hierro, and for this reason has awarded the company a runner-up prize in the “Process for Sustainable Development” category of the European Business Awards for the Environment, Spanish Section, 2016.

Spain: The Wind-Pumpe Hydro Power Station of El Hierro Gorona del Viento has received the Ecovidrio award for “Greater Citizen Impact”. The award was presented at a ceremony held in Madrid with the attendance of the Minister of the Environment, Isabel García Tejerina, to the president of the Cabildo de El Hierro, Belén Allende, who recalled that yesterday the plant completed twelve days in which it has generated one hundred percent of the island’s energy.
